The Best Pinterest Pin Templates for Creative Entrepreneurs

My rule of thumb when it comes to Pinterest marketing is to templatize everything you can. Board descriptions? Make a template for it. Keyword banks? Template. And of course, I use Pinterest pin templates to create my pin images.

As a Pinterest marketing strategist, I create hundreds of pin designs every month. It’s the part of my workflow that takes the longest, but it would be even longer if I didn’t use templates to speed up the process.

However, there are a lot of bad pin templates out there. Whether they’re overly busy, outdated, or just not suitable to your brand, finding the right variety of cohesive yet different templates can be a challenge.

That’s why I’ve compiled this list of the best Pinterest pin templates for creative entrepreneurs, both free and paid, so you can start creating better pins faster!

Where to Find Good Pinterest Templates

Although I plan on sharing plenty of pin templates to get you started, sometimes you want to find your own. So whether you choose one of the templates here or not, here are some tips on how to find the best templates for your Pinterest graphics.

Canva Pro Pin Templates

If you’re using Canva to create your pins — that’s what I do! — there are tons of Pinterest pin templates ready for you to use! You’ll have access to the widest selection if you use Canva Pro, but some templates are available in the free version as well.

Creative Market

Creative Market is one of my favorite resources for creative entrepreneurs. They have pretty much anything you could need, from fonts and illustrations to Lightroom presets and, yes, Pinterest templates!

The benefit of looking on Creative Market for your pin templates is that many different vendors sell there, so you can compare a bunch of different options at once.

Etsy

Similar to Creative Market, Etsy can be another place to look for pin templates. Personally, I find the selection to be less suitable for most of the businesses I work with, but it’s still a good resource.

Individual Pinterest Template Shops

Many designers and Pinterest managers will have Pinterest pin templates for sale in their own shops. If you already have one you like, check their shop to see if they have pin templates available!

I have several different pin template packs available in The Newsstand, but you don’t just have to buy from me! Tonic Site Shop is another template shop that offers Pinterest-specific templates.

What to Look for in Pin Templates

Before you go out searching for different templates, it’s important to know what you’re actually looking for. I don’t want you to waste time or money on templates that ultimately won’t get the job done.

So what makes a good Pinterest pin template? It’s the same answer as what makes a good pin design…

  • Vertical pin ratio (at least 2:3)
  • Easy-to-read fonts
  • Relevant + high-quality

Of course, most pin templates you find are going to meet those characteristics. To get even more specific, we need to look at common mistakes I see in pin templates, especially a lot of the common pin templates on Canva.

Note: The specific design style and best practices will depend on your industry! Some niches benefit from more image-heavy pin graphics while some do better with more text. Take all of this with a grain of salt and a dash of “it depends.”

Mistake #1: Too many elements or distracting clutter

Hands down, this is the biggest issue I see when using Pinterest pin templates from Canva. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of good pin templates available there, but there are also a bunch that just aren’t it.

Your pin graphics should be fairly simple. We want them to be easy to read at a glance and for users to focus on the most important aspects.

Pin templates with lots of extra elements, designs, and cluttered graphics that don’t serve a purpose just end up looking messy. They also tend to be harder to customize for your own brand.

You might see a pin that looks pretty in the mockup, but consider the functionality of it. Does it actually need every single one of those swooshes and lines and arrows? Is it going to be more work to remove them all?

Look for simple pin templates that match your brand style and don’t crowd the image with elements.

Mistake #2: Not using a variety of pin template styles

One of the things that bothers me to no end with most paid pin templates is that there isn’t enough variety. The more pin templates you have, the more individual pin images you can create, which is going to help you grow faster on Pinterest.

So if your pin template pack only comes with 5 or 6 different layouts, you’re going to have a harder time stretching that across your content.

Mistake #3: Using the same templates as everyone else

This is super common if you’re using Canva pin templates, as the same popular templates tend to show up first in the design tab. While these templates aren’t necessarily bad, they are overused. I can spot a Canva pin template a mile away, and so can a lot of Pinterest users.

As you’re looking for pin templates, scroll past the first several results and try to find more unique templates to use. That, along with customizing the templates to your unique brand, will help your designs stand out more.

Mistake #4: Including irrelevant template layouts

With love and peace, you don’t need pin templates to share your service details or testimonials. There are a few pin template bundles I’ve seen that include a lot of different templates; however, almost half of them would be unusable for a basic blog post pin image.

When you’re choosing Pinterest pin templates to use, especially if you’re paying for them, make sure they actually fit your specific content needs.

Now that we know what to look for in our Pinterest pin templates (and what to avoid), let’s get to the actual recommendations!

The Best Free Pinterest Pin Templates on Canva

The only free pin templates I know of will be on Canva, but if you have any other sources you think I should add to my list, let me know!

There are a lot of great Canva pin templates available. If I listed them all, this blog would never end and neither you nor Miss Google would be very happy about that. Instead of sharing the individual templates themselves, I’m sharing one of my favorite Canva hacks to finding good templates — looking at individual creators’ templates.

Every template on Canva was created by someone. Usually, they’ve created more than just the one. So if you find one template creator whose pin templates you like, click on their hyperlinked name to see all of their templates!

Here are some of my personal favorite Pinterest pin templates from Canva and their creators.

Pro Tip: To see all templates from a specific creator while working in a Canva design, search their name with @ in front of it in the “Design” tab of Canva.

The Best Pinterest Pin Templates You Can Buy

Pin Templates in The Newsstand

I couldn’t talk about pin templates and not mention my own, right? My design style is one of the things my designer clients specifically come to me for, and I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to say that I’m gifting it to you in these templates.

There are a lot of bad pin graphics out there, but with the pin templates for sale in The Newsstand, you’ll know that you have unique, gorgeous, designed-to-convert Pinterest pin templates for anything you want to promote.

What Makes These Templates Different?

Instead of selling the same designs in a bunch of different styles, there are 5 unique packs of pin templates with different layouts, aesthetics, elements, and more.

Each set comes with 30+ Canva pin templates that you can customize to your own brand. Unlike most pin templates, these graphics come in a 1000 x 1800 px size that helps them stand out more in the feed.

All of the fonts, elements, and stock photos are available to free users and can be used as is, so you don’t have to worry that your graphics won’t look as good for any reason. I’ve also given you examples of how to fill in the different spots so you know exactly what to put where.

My favorite Pinterest pin template packs (and the ones that sell the best) are the Editorial pack and the Bright & Fun pack. Two totally different vibes, but both equally ready to drive engagement, clicks, and sales!

Creative Market Pin Templates

After Canva and my own Pinterest pin templates, my favorite place to find premium pin templates is Creative Market!

While you can browse all Pinterest templates available on Creative Market here, I’ve gone ahead and selected some of my favorites that I would recommend specifically for creative entrepreneurs and online business owners.

Lead Magnet Marketing Templates

I find creating pins for lead magnets and digital products one of the harder things to do when it comes to pin design, so I’m always on the lookout for well designed pin templates! This template pack from Tabitha Emma fits the bill.

In addition to the 10 Pinterest pin templates, the bundle includes Canva templates for your blog post banners, Instagram posts, and Instagram stories!

Big Cat Creative Pin Templates

No matter what pin templates you’re using, you always want to make sure they match the style of your website. These pin templates from Big Cat Creative are designed to match different Squarespace templates by the same shop, so you know you’ll have that part covered!

Of course, you can still grab the templates even if you don’t have a website from Big Cat Creative. Overall, I think this pack does a good job of covering some foundational graphic layouts that will take you far!

Unearth Social Media Templates

White Luxe Pinterest Pins (100 Templates)

If you’re looking for a more luxe, yet still approachable look to your pin graphics, this set of 100 pin templates might fit the bill. In addition to having a wide variety of pin types (infographic, educational, promotional, etc.), these templates avoid a common mistake I see in many more “modern” or “elegant” pin templates — tiny fonts.

Bloom Pinterest Templates

I seriously love the Bloom templates for any more minimalist style pin designs you need! In particular, the templates for sharing PDFs, lead magnets, or anything like that are super sleek. They’re simple but still elegant, leaving plenty of white space to keep the focus on your text overlays.

Bloom Pinterest Templates

Modern Monochromatic Pin Templates

Although this product titles itself as Pinterest Templates for Bloggers, the graphics are super versatile for every industry. The style is very of-the-moment, with a modern, editorial vibe and a black and white color scheme. Of course, changing the fonts and colors to your brand colors might turn it into a different style, but this set of pin templates — 45 in total — has the bones of really solid designs.

Pinterest Canva Bundle from Station Seven

If you’re looking for classic Pinterest pin templates to make your pins the “it girl” of Pinterest feeds everywhere, you’re going to want to grab this bundle from Station Seven. Absolutely classic pin designs with bold titles and a slightly more warm and organic feel. This is one of my favorite set of pin templates on Creative Market. It’s just so versatile!

Aesthetic Canva Pinterest Templates

This pin template listing once again hits all the requisite points for what makes a “good” pin template in my book. (Obviously, or else I wouldn’t be recommending it.) Why I’m particularly recommending these aesthetic templates is because they have a lot of lines and elements that, if your brand fits with that style, will make it a lot easier to customize for your brand!

These templates are just something a bit different but still fun and conversion-friendly, so I wanted to add them to the list!

CANVA Aesthetic Pinterest Templates

Etsy Pin Templates

Typically, I think of Etsy as the place I look once or twice a year to find creative, personalized gifts for my friends and family. Etsy and online business resources don’t automatically go together in my head, but it turns out there are some hidden gems there, particularly for Pinterest!

Although I haven’t used any of these templates myself, based on the images and descriptions on the products, here are some Etsy pin templates I would recommend.

Neutral Pinterest Templates

This set of pin templates is actually sold by one of the Canva designers I recommended — Kinley Creative! There are several things I like about this Etsy find. Although the product listing is for 100 Fashion Pinterest Pins, you could easily use these templates for any niche.

As a bonus, the stock photos used in the templates also come from one of my favorite, underrated free stock photo sites!

Pinterest Graphics for Business Owners

If you’re looking for pin templates that direct you while filling them in, this set of templates from Molly Ho is perfect! The design is on point, and she’s done a great job with text prompts throughout the graphics.

Trendy Pinterest Templates for Canva

We might be on the tailend of the popularity of this design style, but it’s not too late yet to grab this set of minimalist pin templates on Etsy! With a nostalgic serif font and small flourishes, these templates are perfect for editorial and trendy brands.

Honestly, while looking for Etsy pin templates, I found a lot of listings that either weren’t good, or were blatant rip-offs of already existing Canva pin templates. As someone who spends a lot of time looking at templates, this was easy for me to spot, but I don’t expect it to be as evident to everyone. That being said, please make sure to look into any seller you’re considering purchasing from to make sure they’re legitimate and trustworthy!

Ready to put your new pin templates to use?

Finding the best Pinterest pin templates is only one step. Once you have them, you need to customize them to your brand. That means changing the fonts and colors to match your brand’s fonts and colors. That might take a little bit of extra tweaking, especially if the fonts are significantly different in size.

Then, it’s time to actually create the content and get it on Pinterest! While the templates will do a lot of the heavy design lifting for you, there are lots of other things to consider to create pins that actually drive traffic and sales for your business.

I’ve put together the best guide to creating click-worthy pins in this blog post!

If you still find yourself a little lost or needing some feedback, that’s what I’m here for! You can always book a Pinterest Press Pass to get your all-access pass to personalized Pinterest support in the form of a 1:1 call.
